Reflections-Stations of the Cross
12th Station – Jesus Dies on the Cross
Lord, this is the ultimate pardon, and it is for us. We gather at the foot of the cross – unworthy but saved; sinful but redeemed; lowly but cherished. What else do we need to see the extent of your love for us? Only faith in you – and only you – pardons our sin, our weakness, our failings. Only faith in you brings us out of darkness. But there is more. As we are pardoned through your sacrifice, so must we pardon. We look to pardon those who have hurt us, failed us, neglected us. You have done this, so that we may forgive and be forgiven.
Lord, with your last breath, you freely gave your Spirit to the Father. In the quiet of this moment, we seek your pardon and your mercy. May the tears we shed at your death cleanse us and renew our faith. Your outstretched arms embrace us even now. Despite our flaws and our failings, you still want us as your own. We see that now, and we wait in hope for the third day.
